Thoughts on Tracking Your Child's Symptoms

Does this conversation ring a bell?

Nurse: “I’m so glad you called to check about your child’s symptoms.  What time was the last wet diaper?  How high was the most recent fever?”

You: “Oh no, I’m not sure.  I can’t remember!”

This has happened to me more than once and I do this for a living!  It’s hard to remember specifics when our brains are tired and our days are running together.  Never mind the idea of keeping track of more than one kiddo’s symptoms.

I’ve created a bundle of the most common symptoms I take calls about in the pediatrics office where I work.  You can download the bundle here for free. It includes symptoms tracking for fluid intake and output, rashes and cold symptoms.

The more information you can provide the office when you call them, the faster you can get the advice you need and get off the phone.  Those sweet cherubs of ours always seem to know when we are on the phone and distracted.  They perfectly choose that time to whine/scream/pull everything out of the cupboard.  The faster you can get the information you need and get off the phone, the better.

Best of luck to you and yours this cold and flu season!  Happy symptom tracking!
